Morning 5th Jan, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc Pressed The Button To Start The Construction Of Long Thanh International Airport
The groundbreaking ceremony of Long Thanh international airport took place in Long Thanh district, Dong Nai province, organized by the Ministry of Transport, the Enterprises State Capital Management Committee and Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said that the Long Thanh International Airport project is in the Top 16 most expected airport projects in the world. This is a particularly important project at the national level, demonstrating the aspiration and strong will of our country, and has great significance for the country’s socio-economic development, national defense and security. This is also an infrastructure project with the largest total investment capital ever.
The first phase of Long Thanh international airport investment and construction project has a total investment of 109,111.7 billion dong (equivalent to 4,664.89 million USD). There is a runway with a length of 4,000 meters and a width of 75 meters and a system of taxiways and aprons for aircraft to operate; 1 passenger terminal with synchronous auxiliary items with a capacity of 25 million passengers / year with a total floor area of 373,000m2; 1.2 million tons of cargo / year. Expected to be completed in 2025.
According to Decision 1777 / QD-TTg signed by Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung in November 2020, approving the investment project to build Long Thanh International Airport phase 1 with the goal of investing in the construction of this port. 4F level as decentralized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). There will be 4 component projects consist of:
- Project component 1: works for state management agencies
- Project component 2: works in service of flight management
- Project component 3: essential works in airports
- Project component 4: other works.
According to Mr. Lai Xuan Thanh – Chairman of the Board of Members of ACV that ACV will take the next steps in implementing investment decisions for component projects in accordance with the law, ensuring quality and progress and investment efficiency. Accordingly, Long Thanh Port will be applied modern and open technologies to easily update the most advanced technologies in construction, management and operation, equivalent to advanced international airports in the world.
Estimated Benefits After The Construction Of Long Thanh International Airport
Regarding the mobilization of a huge source of capital for this super project, according to Mr. Thanh ACV currently has 29,225 billion VND in cash and the accumulated cash flow in the period 2020-2025 dedicated to the project is 6,877 billion VND. The remaining capital would be mobilized by ACV in many forms such as commercial loans, issuing corporate bonds for domestic and international markets…
The total investment is large, divided into 3 phases, when completing Long Thanh International Airport, there are 4 runways, 4 passenger terminals with many synchronous auxiliary items, with a capacity of 100 million passengers. passengers / year and 5 million tons of goods / year.
The Prime Minister asked Dong Nai province, Ho Chi Minh City, Southeast provinces, including some Southwestern provinces, the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Construction to soon have plans to connect traffic with Long Thanh airport synchronous way, including urban development, tourism and service areas, in which the transport system connecting the airport consists of three roads and two railway lines.
These routes together with Long Thanh international airport open up a new development space for the region by connecting, creating a new growth engine, promoting a new economic structure in favor of service production and capacity creation new competition for both the Southeast (Thu Duc City HCMC, Dong Nai Province, Binh Duong Province, Ba Ria Vung Tau…) and the whole economy.
If the project is completed and put into use, according to an Australian international organization, the airport can contribute to GDP growth of 3-5%.
Appreciating the efforts of relevant ministries and agencies, of Dong Nai province, ACV, the Prime Minister welcomed the investor’s commitment to include mines clearance, fence construction, and leveling. Total investment is about 7,000 billion VND to be started and completed in 2021.
